Easygenerator is growing. Last November eight new people joined
us. This gave us the idea to do a series of blog post on the people
behind easygenerator. They are the ones that make it all happen.
The second post in this series is Beatrijs van de Griendt, our new
Instructional designer, based in our headquarter in Rotterdam, The
Netherlands.

I'm Beatrijs van de Griendt and I'm an
Instructional Designer @ easygenerator. Usually when I have to
write a short description about myself I write: 'Instructional
designer with a passion for interactive media.' Sometimes I add
'with an endless need to observe everything around me'. Actually
that's me in a nutshell. But because a blog introduction requires a
more extensive description, I will take the time to introduce
myself more properly.
In 1995, when I first started working as an
instructional designer my employer assigned me the task to listen
attentively to which expressions people around me used for
confirmation. Later that week he tackled me in the hall way and
asked me about my observations. I nicely gave him my list: "I
understand you", "I hear you", "I can feel you", "I see what you
mean", "that tastes like a good idea". Ok, he said, and what can
you conclude out of this? I'd been so busy collecting these
different confirmations that I hadn't thought about the meaning of
the distinctions at all. And then it dawned on me. All these people
said the same but expressed it with their -probably preferable-
sense in mind.
I will always be thankful of what he pointed
to me that day. We instructional designers do not only have to
address a variety of learners, but we also have to address their
various senses.
Therefore I believe in the force of a strong
visual and interactive design. Where originally the focus was on
learning with new media, today e-Learning focusses on learning with
interactive media. Interactive media enables us instructional
designers to create an ever more rich learning environment. We are
able to stimulate the brain and senses on different levels. Because
complex problems can be visualized, the learner will be able to put
more meaning into the subject. I take up the challenge to use
interactive media to develop an intuitive, exiting and motivating
learning environment in which we achieve to address the different
senses of the learner.
My inspiration comes from the diversity in the
world around me. I love it when things are out of the ordinary.
Things such as music, art, design inspire me enormously. I love
watching people and their peculiarities. When you want to have a
sneak peek in what inspires me just follow me on twitter @BeatrijsG
and be amazed.
Working @ easygenerator gives me the
opportunity to reach out to all e-learning developers. Via our user
community I'll support you, for instance, by creating example
courses that will contain strong elements of both instructional and
visual design. I will give webinars with advice on instructional
design and easygenerator. And you can consult me with your
instructional design challenges.
On the other hand I have the opportunity to
take part in the further concept- and product development of easy
generator. I can add value by giving input from a user and
instructional designer point of view. Therefore I'm always open for
your constructive criticism. We want easygenerator to keep up with
its name!
The new generation of e-Learning is here: and
you can be a part of it!
