The best Create by Confirm alternatives for enterprise L&D teams in 2026

Elucidat is now Create by Confirm, and the change is bigger than a name

Create by Confirm is a cloud e-learning authoring tool that builds responsive courses from templates, generates outlines from prompts or source documents, and translates content into more than 75 languages. It was called Elucidat until October 2025.

The company around it was assembled from five businesses in under a year.

The products were renamed alongside the company. Elucidat became Create, WorkRamp became Learn:Up, Learning Platform became Learn:Go, WorkStep became Engage, Confirm became Perform, and AI Sims became Practice.

The old domain and its content have moved. elucidat.com now redirects to Confirm’s Create product page, and the Elucidat blog redirects to confirm.com. Elucidat’s best-performing article on authoring tools still ranks under its old URL because search engines have not caught up.

Reviewers have not switched names either. Across the 20 most recent four-star and five-star G2 reviews, every one calls the product Elucidat, including one written in July 2026.

Create is now a component rather than a product. Confirm’s own page states that Create sits within the Learn engine, producing the content the learning platform delivers. Elucidat was sold as a standalone authoring tool. Anyone buying Create today is buying into a workforce platform that also covers engagement, performance, and compliance.

Three things push teams to look for an Elucidat alternative

The customization ceiling. Limited editing, limited customization, and design limitations together account for 13 counted mentions on the G2 profile, and “not intuitive” tops the criticism list at 6. Lauren B. described the specific limit in a February 2023 review, writing that she cannot place an item anywhere on a page because it has to align with the grid. She also called the product a halfway point between Articulate Rise and Storyline 360.

Robert G., a senior foreign policy advisor at an enterprise, laid out the whole pattern in an October 2025 review rated 2.5 out of 5. He opens by calling the platform powerful, then writes that it can sometimes feel limited when trying to customize beyond the provided templates, and adds that load times can be slow for larger projects.

The most recent organic review on the profile says the same thing in one line. A reviewer in food and beverages at an enterprise wrote in July 2026 that some features are not adjustable and need more flexibility overall.

Getting experts to contribute. Confirm’s product description says Create gives subject-matter experts an easy way to review, comment, and contribute without authoring expertise. Two reviewers describe the opposite. A reviewer in consumer goods rated Create 2.5 out of 5 in August 2024 and reported colleagues finding the platform unintuitive and frustrating. Monica E. raised the review workflow specifically in a January 2026 review rated four stars, writing that the section where you see reviewer comments is not optimal because you cannot make changes directly there.

You cannot price it without a sales call. Confirm publishes per-learner prices for Learn:Go, Engage, Perform, Learn:Up, and Practice. Create appears under “Get pricing” with no figure on the frontline pricing page.

One thing that does not appear on that list is quality. This is a well-liked product. Ten reviews out of 185 fall below four stars, and no reviewer has ever rated it one star.

The pressure behind these searches is documented. Fosway Group’s Digital Learning Realities research, published in November 2025, found that L&D spend is static at best, that headcount is under pressure, and that only one in three L&D professionals believe they have the skills for what is coming. David Perring, Chief Insights Officer at Fosway Group, described the combination as a perfect storm.

How we evaluated Elucidat alternatives

We scored each tool on four criteria, and those same four criteria run through the comparison table and the sub-headings inside every entry below. We took the criteria from what Create’s own reviewers raise rather than from a generic feature list.

Authoring model. Who can realistically build a course, and how much instructional design skill the tool assumes before the output is publishable.

Customization ceiling. How far an author can push the design before the tool stops them. This is the most-cited criticism of Create, so it decides more shortlists here than anything else.

Publishing and live updates. Which standards the tool exports, and whether a content change reaches the LMS without a manual re-upload.

Pricing model and transparency. What the vendor publishes, on what basis, and how total cost behaves as your team grows.

How we graded the customization ceiling

The three bands in the table are ours, and here is what earns each one. High means custom page layouts plus variables or conditional logic, with freedom to position elements rather than snap them to a template grid. Medium means meaningful style and layout control inside a template system. Low means templates with limited layout deviation, where the guardrails are the point.

Low is not a failing grade. It is the trade a tool makes when it wants non-specialists to produce consistent output, and it is the trade Easygenerator makes too. Read this column against who will actually build your courses.

Ownership disclosure

Easygenerator is our own product, and we publish this article. We reviewed the other eight tools independently, from their public G2 profiles and their own published pricing and documentation. All G2 figures were verified on September 10, 2026.

What we deliberately did not score

We did not score localization, and we are marginally behind on it. Confirm lists more than 75 languages for Create. EasyTranslate covers 75, which is a precise figure rather than a floor. The gap is small enough that a column would not separate the field, and it goes to Create rather than to us.

We did not score the wider Confirm platform. Learn:Go, Learn:Up, Engage, Perform, and Practice are separate products with their own review profiles. If you are buying a workforce enablement system rather than an authoring tool, this article covers one component of it.

We did not score template library volume, because Confirm publishes no count.

We could not verify Create’s Capterra rating. The profile sits behind bot verification, so we report the absence rather than repeat a figure we could not check ourselves.

What we left out and why

We gave full entries to six tools and short entries to three more.

• Elucidat Author is out of the ranked list because Confirm sells it, so it is not an alternative to Confirm. It gets its own section below, because for many readers it is the right answer
• Learn:Go and Learn:Up are LMS products rather than authoring tools, and replacing Create with either would answer a different question
• Synthesia and HeyGen generate video and report nothing to an LMS
• Free and open-source authoring tools are out because the enterprise buyers this article is written for need supported software for compliance training

What G2 reviewers flag most often

G2 tags recurring themes across a product’s reviews and publishes a mention count for each. Those counts show what reviewers keep returning to, which a star rating cannot. Every figure below was read from each tool’s G2 profile on September 10, 2026.

Three things this table makes visible.

The customization ceiling is a category complaint, not a Create problem. Limited Customization, Limited Editing, or Limited Flexibility appears in the top three criticisms for Create, Easygenerator, Articulate 360, and iSpring Suite. Four of the seven tools here draw the same complaint, including the two that score High on our ceiling grade. Switching tools does not remove this criticism, it changes where the wall sits.

Three profiles have almost no tagging coverage. Adobe Captivate, dominKnow ONE, and Lectora top out at 2 mentions per tag against Articulate’s 220. G2 has clearly tagged far fewer of their reviews, so we have built no claim on those three rows and neither should you.

Create and Easygenerator draw near-identical criticism. Not Intuitive leads both, at 6 mentions from 185 reviews for Create and 4 from 175 for us. Reviewers of both products praise ease of use most and name the same limitation next.

Check whether you need Elucidat Author instead

If the customization ceiling is your problem, the first honest answer is that Confirm already sells a more capable authoring product and you may simply be in the wrong one.

Elucidat shipped two separate authoring platforms. Create is the rapid tool. Elucidat Author is where the advanced work lives, including custom page layouts, rules for branching scenarios, question pools, and social polling. Their own documentation lists those as features not available in Create. The G2 profile that carries the 4.3 rating is titled Create, so most of the customization criticism in this article describes the simpler of the two products.

One reviewer points straight at the split. Writing in October 2025, a reviewer in information technology at an enterprise located the strength specifically in Author mode, saying it offers a wide variety of possible layouts and lets you customize almost every aspect.

Three things you should know before you take that route.

The transfer is lossy, in Confirm’s own words. Their support page states that copying a course from Create to Author is not designed to deliver a one-to-one replica, and that uploaded audio and video will not transfer, though containers get built so you can re-upload them.

Confirm no longer markets Author. The word Author appears nowhere on Confirm’s Create product page. The Elucidat Author Help Center is still live and still branded Elucidat, and Confirm is moving enablement resources to a new Launchpad site. A buyer who is told to use Author for branching would find no trace of it on the vendor’s website.

Published updates have slowed. Elucidat’s release notes ran roughly monthly through 2025. The most recent published note is dated 29 January 2026, covering phrasing control in Auto-Translate. That gap does not prove development stopped, and it is the public record as of September 2026. Ask Confirm directly about the Author roadmap before you commit to it.

Ask your account manager which product your license actually covers. Several reviewers appear not to know.

Replacing Create because experts cannot contribute the way you need

1. Easygenerator

Easygenerator is a cloud e-learning authoring tool that helps organizations create company-tailored training at scale by letting subject-matter experts build courses alongside L&D.

Create and Easygenerator make the same promise about experts. The difference is where the expert lands. In Create, reviewers describe experts as reviewers who comment. In Easygenerator, they are authors who publish, with L&D setting the standards and approving the output.

Authoring model

Distributed. New authors build a publishable course without prior instructional design experience, guided by templates and built-in didactic support. EasyAI adds a conversational AI Agent that generates course structure and refines pages on instruction, and it shows its plan before it executes changes across multiple blocks. It is included in every plan at no extra cost.

Customization ceiling

Low, and deliberately so. Guardrails hold quality consistent when many people author, and they stop a designer who wants pixel-level control. If your problem with Create is the ceiling rather than the contributors, we are not the upgrade. Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, and Lectora are.

Publishing and live updates

Manual and dynamic SCORM, xAPI, native integrations with Cornerstone and LearnUpon, plus direct course links. Dynamic SCORM pushes course updates into the LMS with no re-upload. The company grew training coverage from 5,200 to 11,500 employees across 34 countries, and over 400 internal experts now build content rather than a central design team. That figure is worth holding onto while you shortlist. If your experts did not contribute in Create, a different tool helps only if the tool was the blocker.

2. Articulate 360

Articulate 360 is a subscription suite of e-learning authoring tools from Articulate, built around Storyline for slide-based interactive courses and Rise for responsive web courses.

Reviewers already measure Create against Articulate. Lauren B. described Create as a halfway point between Articulate Rise and Storyline 360, which makes Articulate the natural destination if you want the other half.

Authoring model

Specialist. Storyline assumes comfort with variables, triggers, and object states. Rise sits alongside it for faster responsive courses that need less setup, and Rise is the closer match to what Create does today.

Customization ceiling

High. Storyline gives free positioning, variables, and conditional logic, which covers every specific limitation Create reviewers raise, including the grid-alignment complaint. Limited Customization still appears in 23 of its own reviews, so the ceiling moves rather than disappears.

Adobe Captivate is a desktop authoring tool from Adobe built for instructional designers who need control over software simulations, interactive video, and screen-recorded demonstrations.

Captivate answers the ceiling complaint and adds a capability nothing else in this comparison has, which is scored software simulation. It also carries the lowest published entry price here.

Authoring model

Specialist. Captivate assumes comfort with advanced actions, variables, and object states, so output quality tracks author experience closely. It runs as an installed application rather than in a browser.

Customization ceiling

High. Variables, object states, widgets, and simulation modes cover design control and interactive practice. Adobe released version 13.2 on 26 August 2026, so the product is under active development.

Publishing and live updates

SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI, and cmi5 export, which is broader standards coverage than any other tool here. Updates need a fresh publish, so Create’s re-release wins this row.

dominKnow ONE is a cloud authoring platform from dominKnow for L&D teams who publish high volumes of content in several output formats from one source.

dominKnow is the closest structural match to Create among the high-ceiling tools, because both are browser-based platforms built for content teams rather than desktop applications built for individuals.

Authoring model

Specialist. Three authoring modes cover responsive design, fixed-screen interactivity, and software simulation inside one environment, and all three carry their own learning curve.

Customization ceiling

High. The three modes give layout freedom that Create’s template grid does not, and dominKnow lists integrated software simulation on every published tier.

SCORM, xAPI, and cmi5 export. dominKnow also sells Convey for dynamic content delivery, so published content can be updated in place through that route. This is the one alternative here that matches Create’s re-release rather than losing to it.

iSpring Suite is an authoring tool from iSpring Solutions that runs as a PowerPoint add-in, and it adds narration, quizzes, dialogue simulations, and SCORM publishing to slides authors have already built.

iSpring is the transparency answer. It publishes prices for all three tiers, it is sold as an authoring tool rather than a platform component, and it costs less per author than anything else here except Captivate.

Mixed. Trainers and subject-matter experts who know PowerPoint start producing quickly, and the PowerPoint dependency also sets the ceiling on what the output can do.

Lectora earns its place on accessibility. For public sector and regulated buyers, that single criterion often decides the shortlist, and Confirm publishes no accessibility conformance detail for Create to compare against.

Elucidat built its reputation on getting non-specialists producing quickly, and the reviews say it still does that. What changed is everything around the tool. Start from which of those facts actually affects you. If the tool works and the ceiling is not in your way, the rebrand alone is not a reason to move. If you are shortlisting because your experts stopped contributing or because you cannot get a price, those are different problems with different answers, and only one of them is solved by switching authoring tools.
