Training needs grow fast in global organizations like FARFETCH, as does knowledge inside those organizations. That’s why the FARFETCH turned to Employee-generated Learning (EGL) and made it work across departments.
In this session at Learning Technologies 2025, Maria Cabral, People Development Lead at FARFETCH, shared how her team rolled out EGL with Easygenerator, and what they learned along the way.
Let’s break it down.

At FARFETCH, learning is not just formal programs or onboarding sessions. It’s a daily habit. To support that, the L&D team created Fusion, a set of tools, resources, and initiatives to help employees share their knowledge.
They designed the tool to make peer learning structured and scalable. It started as a toolkit and then became a guide for digital learning. Eventually, it became a central knowledge-sharing hub with templates, tips, best practices, and a platform to make learning accessible to everyone.
Maria and her team knew they couldn’t create all the training themselves. Subject-matter experts (SMEs) knew. They just needed the right tools.
That’s where Easygenerator came in. With it, SMEs across FARFETCH could create structured, clear, and company-tailored courses without needing help from central L&D. The team ran a six-month pilot, followed by a soft launch in high-impact areas, and then scaled company-wide.
They created a Slack community to support adoption, ran engagement campaigns, and offered peer collaboration through co-authors. They also built a dashboard to track who created what, helping avoid duplicate content and keep everyone aligned.
The customer service team was one of the first to benefit. With high seasonal demand and regular onboarding needs, they struggled to keep up using only instructor-led training. Now, with digital courses built by their trainers, they save time and reach more people faster.
The technology team had a similar experience. They used Easygenerator to launch training on lean portfolio management, a topic that needed regular updates and was hard to standardize. After launching one course, they saw high engagement, so they continued. Now, they have an entire program built internally by the tech team using Easygenerator.
Maria’s team sees EGL as a long-term strategy. They’ve started using it to improve offboarding with checklists and guides. They plan to expand into functional onboarding and even succession planning.
Her advice? Don’t just treat people as learners. Treat them as experts. “We are all experts on something,” she said. “And we have valuable knowledge to share.”
👏 Huge thanks to Maria Cabral for sharing FARFETCH’s journey and insights.
