Gusto’s L&D team struggled to meet increasing training demands. Easygenerator helped the team simplify course development, improve learner tracking, and reduce costs.
Victoria Kapuranis, Learning Experience Designer, and Anthony Sloan, Senior L&D Operations Specialist, play key roles in shaping Gusto’s learning strategy. Victoria designs training programs and supports teams across the company, while Anthony focuses on the operational side, managing Gusto’s learning tech stack and analytics. With a growing workforce and a strong focus on employee development, Gusto’s L&D team needed a better way to manage training requests and track learner progress.
Challenges
Gusto’s L&D team struggled to meet the company’s training demands. Requests from different teams kept coming in, but with a small team, they couldn’t create training at the speed the business needed. “We received many training requests from the team, but we didn’t have enough hands on deck to create the projects that were due,” says Victoria.
Different teams used various tools to create training materials, leading to inconsistent branding and formats. Most training was delivered via Google Slides, which made it difficult to track engagement or measure training effectiveness. Their previous LMS also lacked the robust analytics they needed, making it nearly impossible to track completions or assess training impact. Without clear insights, the team had no way to measure whether the training was making an impact.
To overcome Gusto’s training challenges, Victoria’s team implemented Easygenerator and quickly saw the tool’s benefits. They also moved to a new LMS to improve tracking, reporting, and version control for their learning programs. With Easygenerator’s dynamic SCORM, Gusto could publish courses directly to their LMS and push updates through the cloud without manually downloading and re-uploading files each time.
“Dynamic SCORM has been a game-changer,” says Anthony. “Instead of downloading and re-uploading SCORM files, having the updates pushed through the cloud really makes our work more efficient. It removes the barrier of going through that manual process.”
Beyond SCORM publishing, Easygenerator improved the L&D team’s course creation process. One of their favorite features is EasyAI. “I like that I don’t have to use a separate tool to generate images or write learning objectives,” Victoria shared. The team also uses Easygenerator’s branding feature to ensure all training materials follow Gusto’s brand guidelines. Previously, different teams used different tools, which created inconsistencies in how courses were delivered.
Today, the L&D team at Gusto has created over 1,400 courses, making training more accessible across the company. Dynamic SCORM has cut the time spent on course updates in half, reducing it from 15-25 minutes to just 5 minutes per course. Beyond saving time, Gusto has saved over $1.1 million in training costs by enabling SMEs to create and update training in-house. Without Easygenerator, Victoria and Anthony estimate they would have needed to hire six to eight additional learning designers to keep up with demand.

With Easygenerator in place, Gusto has transformed how it delivers training. The L&D team can now scale content creation, update courses instantly, and track training effectiveness, all while saving time and money.
“Easygenerator is more cost effective than hiring more LXDs, and it's a more intuitive tool for first-time designers.”
Gusto’s L&D team took a structured approach to rolling out Easygenerator. Initially, all employees had access to the tool, allowing them to explore and contribute to learning content. As their learning strategy evolved, they refined their approach to ensure high-quality course creation.
Now, L&D professionals and SMEs with instructional design experience take the lead in using the tool. The team set up guidelines and best practices to maintain quality, ensuring that courses met company standards before publication. Once an SME creates a few courses, the L&D team reviews them to ensure quality. After passing this initial check, SMEs can start publishing courses without needing approval.
Gusto used Easygenerator to let L&D and internal experts create and update courses in house. This helped the team keep up with training demand without slowing down the business.
The L&D team needed a tool that was easy to use and fast to update. Easygenerator allowed first time course creators to build training without relying on external designers.
Gusto uses Easygenerator’s dynamic SCORM to publish courses directly to their LMS and push updates through the cloud. This removed the need to manually download and re-upload SCORM files, cutting course update time from 15 to 25 minutes down to just 5 minutes.
By enabling internal experts to create and maintain courses, Gusto avoided hiring 6 to 8 additional learning designers. This led to over $1.1 million in training cost savings.
Gusto created more than 1,400 courses and cut course update time in half. The team scaled training, improved tracking, and saved time and budget without growing the L&D team.
