We have released version 8.5 of easygenerator and we have some great new things. This version has a complete new editor, we have TinCan support, we added three more HTML question types and we added a new concept: course templates. I will describe the highlights in this blog, for all the details you can download the release notes.
TinCan will change the eLearning world and maybe even more. TinCan is the new Scorm standard (link) that allows you to track and trace learning experiences from anywhere. This means eLearning is no longer confined to the LMS. You can now for example create mobile courses and still be able to track the results and TinCan will open up more opportunities in the future. TinCan 1.0 (officially The Experience API) was released on the 27th of April. We are proud to have in in our product from now on.
A complete new editor
We have implemented a new editor in easygenerator. It is easier to use and has more functionalities than our ‘old’ editor.
The editor menu is now directly placed at the text element. It is easier to select elements and align them. We now have a whole range of keyboard short cuts and there are much more advantages. Another important thing is that our old editor was a windows editor, this editor is web based. For now it is implemented in our windows software, but it will be the basis of the new completely web based version of easygenerator. We plan to release a first simple web based version after the summer.
Three new HTML question types
The questions in easygenerator were based on Flash. Because of this you could not use questions in mobile publications. In the previous release we added HTML versions of Multiple choice/Multiple select and fill in the blank Question types. In this release we have added HTML versions of Text matching, Hotspot and the Likert Question. The remaining flash based question types will all be replaced with HTML based questions types before the end of the year. Enabling you with the full power of easygenerator for your mobile publications.
Creating a course can be complex, especially if you want to create a more advanced course like an adaptive one. We added a new concept to easygenerator to solve this problem: the course template. A course template is the whole structure (learning objectives, pre assessment, pages and all) of a course. When you create a new course you can select a course template and that whole structure will be placed in your workspace. This enables you with an easy and quick start for new courses.
And there is more….
These are just the highlights of the new release, you can read all details in the easygenerator release notes.
